THE EGO FEARS CHANGE BECAUSE IT DOESN'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRANSFORMATION AND ANNIHILATION
The ego job is the one we gave it , and in most cases it is protection . We have adopted the attitude that life is unsafe so we have have a very strong desire to feel secure and our ego is made up of a number of subconscious scripts that have this as its main agenda .
I rarely quote other philosophers yet this wonderful quote by Michael Beckwith is so aligned with my understanding of the truth that the Ego is so prioritized, through our intense fear of death, to keep us alive at all costs . It interprets all change as a threat to our existence and see's it as a possibility of annihilation , so has an overpowering aversion to change trying to keep the status quo so that we are safe.
However this is based on a childish fear and misunderstanding, that the universe is a dangerous place as opposed to Einstein s suggestion that it is a friendly one . This is the most important question to ask yourself for the ego is a device that serves you subconsciously, yet we can choose to redirect its conclusions so that instead of seeing life's challenges as threats it repurposes them as opportunities for transformation. Removing our inhibitions and supporting us on aa path to our highest evolution.
